REFLECTIVE MATERIAL An outdoor public creation |
|
The reflective material is made of gasoline, wine (red and white), pigment and varnish on chipboard. It is created during public or private performances, using fire like a brush continuously acting. This appealing, playful and fascinating material becomes alive in perfect symbiosis with its environment, it reflects light or absorbs it. Its mirror effects, red, green, blue, glided and black invite the spectator to interpretations free of senses…
1) - wood and fire = developer The process of development of black and white photo lab inspires the implementation of the three phases of creation.
It belongs to each phase of creation, drawing nuanced blacks, merging and transformating the different materials. The fire is lit with unleaded gasoline. Black gold is a vital fuel which leads inevitably to chaos.
Wood is jagged, and then reconstituted in order to obtain a perfect, stable and modular mass. Under the impact of fire and wine throwing it will react, blister, crackle, break….
Like an alchemist who, thanks to studies and patience reaches savoury nectar, wine leads to festive moments and brings unforgettable memories but in abuse becomes destructive. Wine is used in reflective material for its seductive colour, to dilute eventual pigments, to bind different materials and create heat shocks.
The « mirror effect » is made of a varnish revealing and fixing the different phases of creation. Its golden reflections attract attention and deform silhouette.
Invited outside, the public throws wine over the wood surface heated by fire. Each performance is a unique filmed creation!
When finished the reflective material offers several appearances: its mass can still keep moving, in direct light it glows, in indirect light it reflects the environment. |
